The following information will let you know why this product is being distributed as Shareware instead of commercially and the details of how you can place an order. A summary of the steps you need to follow to become registered and receive a Full Working Copy of the latest version are…
•• Print out this chapter and the chapter titled "Order Form". This is the form you need to fill out with the appropriate information so I know who you are and where to send the latest version to.

MacPassword™ has been released to the shareware market in the hope of capturing some of the goodwill that seems to exist out there. The jury is still out on the profitability of shareware so let's see if we can avoid the hassles of copy protection, fancy packaging and high prices by supporting this industry. If you like MacPassword™ then please print and fill out the information on the Order Form found elsewhere in this package and mail it along with the appropriate funds as detailed below. If you have an electronic address for AppleLink, GEnie, CONNECT or America Online… please make sure to write it on the order form. I will then upgrade people automatically whose electronic address I have on file.
In return for your contribution, I will send a disk to you containing the following:
• The latest version of the MacPassword™ CDEV.
• The latest version of the MacPassword™ Utility Program.
• The latest version of the MacPassword™ Sounds.
• The latest version of the MacPassword™ Documentation.
• The latest version of Disinfectant, a virus scanning utility.
There will also be a file on the disk called “Personalization Keycode” that will contain your personal keycode necessary to unlock MacPassword™ for an unlimited life span and allow you to use the additional functionality not available to users of the “Demo” version.
The personalization keycode will be effective for any version within the same major version number. That is, if you register version 3.0.0, then several weeks later come across version 3.2.4, you will be able to use the same personalization keycode on this newer version. A year later, you come across version 4.0.1 and will find that your personalization keycode code will no longer work. At this time, you may elect to upgrade to the newest major version for a nominal fee that will typically be the difference in price between major versions as well as some amount to cover P&H. I feel this is a fair system that will allow my shareware supporters to only pay for a major upgrade and allow me more time to work on MacPassword‚Ñ¢ instead of filling upgrade orders.
With your registration information I will be able to notify you of major version upgrades when they become available by land based mail. For upgrading to incremental versions within the same major version number, you can obtain them from the Networks, User Groups or directly from me (see below for details).
If you provide your electronic address (E-Mail), I can email new incremental versions to you at no cost, thus keeping you updated with the latest version. Likewise, you can communicate with me at very low cost with questions, suggestions, etc. When you register, please fill out the entry related to E-Mail addresses on the Order Form if you have addresses on any of the networks that I communicate on:

There are a variety of ways to pay for MacPassword‚Ñ¢. You may elect to provide payment in any of the following methods:
• Cash (in US dollars)
• Traveler's Checks (in US dollars)
• Personal or Company Check (US dollars/US bank)
• Money Order (Post Office or otherwise in US dollars)
• Bank Draft (US dollars/US bank)
• Purchase Orders will be accepted only under the following conditions:
- Must be a written purchase order complete with a contact name and phone number.
- They will only be accepted if ordering more than one copy (ie. volume purchase)
- A $5.00 handling fee will be assessed for the special handling required.
- Payment must be made on a Net 30 day basis.
- PO's originating out of the US must be for more than 20 units
• Washington State residents must add in the 8.2% sales tax as I'm forced to collect it.
• Sorry, No COD's or Credit Card Orders will be accepted.
First class mail shipping is included. If you want it faster, send appropriate funds for UPS Red, UPS Blue or your Federal Express number.
 
If you are ordering a single copy of MacPassword‚Ñ¢ and your mailing address is within the US, then please enclose $35.00. All other single copy orders out of the US must enclose $40.00.
If you are ordering two or more copies, you qualify for a volume discount. The volume purchase plan I've come up with breaks the registration cost down as indicated in the following chart. Please note this reflects a one time purchase, not cumulative orders. In light of the cost of commercial software costing close to $395.00 each, I feel this is an extremely cost efficient way to add security to your corporate Macintosh systems. MacPassword‚Ñ¢ is being recognized as an ideal utility to standardize a company on as evidenced by the extremely large number of requests I've received for volume purchase information.

Note: Purchases of over nineteen (19) licenses will be recognized as a special volume purchase site (similar to a site license) and receive a single Master Disk and Master Documentation with authorization to make copies up to the limit of their purchase along with information on how to take advantage of special security access features in an environment with multiple users (Administrator Override…).
 
Any registered owner wishing to upgrade their MacPassword‚Ñ¢ with me can do so by sending in the appropriate fee (see below) along with your original MacPassword‚Ñ¢ disk. Be sure to include any new address you want my records to reflect.
 
•• If you are upgrading from version 3.x.x to the newest version 3.x.x (ex. v3.1.0 to v3.8.7) then the upgrade fee is FREE. However, please note you must enclose your original MacPassword™ disk along with a self-addressed stamped (at least $.52 for U.S. orders, $3.00 for everywhere else) mailer. It is also FREE if you obtain the latest version off the networks or from a User Group. Remember, your same personalization keycode will work within the same major version.
•• If you are upgrading from version 2.x.x to the newest version 3.x.x (ex. v2.8.1 to v3.6.0) and your mailing address in within the US, then enclose your original MacPassword™ disk along with $12.00. All other single copy upgrade orders out of the US must enclose their original MacPassword™ disk along with $15.00. Volume purchasers can upgrade their copies in accordance with the following chart:
